Special information

The Chittick Home was among the first in the region to concentrate on resource efficiency through the use of green building products and techniques. The home was described in regional newspapers and a trade magazine. As a   Super Good Cents Home  , the homeowner received the highest rebate possible at the time of the home's completion for its energy efficiency.

Bruce Millard, architect of the project, used the home to show future clients and the general public new healthy methods of construction. Bruce has also used the home to promote sustainable design and construction to architectural schools, green building conferences, and workshops to influence local and regional construction. As a result of such outreach, and the performance of the Chittick Home and other residences, such healthy, sustainable building methods are now 'standard' in many residential buildings in the area.

The Studio of Sustainable Design focuses on designing healthy, sustainable, and holistic buildings for personal environments and livable communities. To receive plans for the Chittick and other energy efficient homes contact the Studio using the information above. Bruce Millard is also available to present workshops on sustainable design.
